Q: When should I check the message center?A: You will be notified of captured virus infected or junk/Spam mail via e-mail. You will receive a real time notice for virus-infected e-mail and weekly notice for junk mail. Quarantined e-mail that has been on the message center for more than 14 days will be automatically deleted.
Q: What is Spam?A: Spam is e-mail that is sent to multiple recipients who have not requested the mail. Examples include get-rich-quick schemes, credit card solicitations, and advertising for adult content websites.
Q: How do I adjust my junk e-mail filters?A:
- Once you have logged into the Message Center, click on the Junk E-mail tab.
- Once there, click on the Filter Categories tab and you will see the 4 boxes to check. Select the filters you want on.
- Click 'Save' and this saves your settings.
- After you have returned to the junk e-mail settings page, click on the 'Filter Sensitivity' tab. You can set it to Lenient, Moderate, or Aggressive.
- Click Save' to save your settings.
- To make sure that e-mails from the people you communicate with go straight to your mailbox without being quarantined, add them to the approved senders list.
- To make sure that e-mails from certain addresses are automatically quarantined, add them to the blocked senders list.
Q: How can I add e-mail addresses into the Blocked Senders list?A:
- Log in to your message center and then click the Junk E-mail tab on the top of the page.
- Click on the Blocked Senders tab and enter the domain or e-mail address into the list.
- Click Save to List.
NOTE: Any e-mail address that you have entered in the Blocked Sender list WILL BE quarantined in the Message Center for your inspection.
Q: Will services that might resemble Spam, such as mailing lists, be blocked?A: Most likely not. If it does trigger the filters, we recommend that you add the sender to the Approved Senders list.
Q: How can I turn the filters off?A:
- Log in to your message center and then click the Junk E-mail tab on the top of the page.
- Click the OFF button if you want to turn all filters off. You can also further personalize your settings by using one of the other 4 function tabs.
Q: How do I find the e-mail I delivered from the message center?A: You should see this e-mail in your regular e-mail box within a few minutes after delivery. If you cant find your messages, you can deliver them again from the trash using these steps:
- Log in to the message center at http://login.postini.com/exec/login
- Once you log in, click the View Trash tab next to the Delete button. This contains deleted or delivered messages from the last 14 days.
- Check the box to the left of the message(s) you want to send to your regular e-mail account and then click the Deliver button.
- Check your regular e-mail account after a few minutes to see if the messages are there.
Q: How does Virus Assistant work?A: 360networks uses Postini for virus filtering. Postini Virus Assistant incorporates robust, industry-leading virus scanning technologies. They detect and block viruses, malicious code and related Internet security threats. In-line virus scanning occurs before the virus hits the end users desktop. Instead of contaminating your computer virus-infected e-mail is detained within each users message center where the user has the option of cleaning the message and forwarding it safely. When a virus-infected e-mail arrives, the user is notified with a message asking the user to visit the Message Center to review the message.
Q: Can I turn the Virus Assistant off?A: 360networks e-mail Regional Internet e-mail system has been configured so that virus assistant must remain on.
Q: Should I get rid of my current virus scanning software?A: No. 360networks Virus Assistant should not replace your desktop scanning software. Viruses can enter a desktop computer through many means besides e-mail (floppy, internal network, file servers, etc). We recommend that users have both this service and a desktop solution to ensure complete protection.
